JJ Valaya - Indian Fashion Designer

JJ Valaya is one of the senior-most fashion designers of India. He has a larger than life approach to luxury fashion & lifestyle. He believes that it is the marriage of the uniqueness of India’s craft and tradition with the energy and the ever-changing nature of contemporary fashion that sets the pace for his designs.

JJ Valaya was born on October 8, 1967 in the state of Rajasthan in India but spent most of his childhood traveling to different parts of the country due to his father's various postings in the army. He studied commerce at high school to be a chartered accountant eventually. But his passion for beautiful things and fixation for the rich Indian art and culture took him to the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi where he graduated in fashion design.

Graduation at NIFT, New Delhi was the stepping stone of the fulfillment of a vision. A vision to show to the world the new India resplendent with the aura of blue-blooded elegance, innovative craftsmanship and modern sensibilities. With his elder brother TJ Singh, JJ Valaya founded The House of Valaya in 1992 with the launch of its couture label. Valaya’s creative vision regarding elegance and edgy grandeur together with his brother’s organizational abilities have been the key factors for the success of Valaya as a luxury brand. The brand today encompasses Couture, Ready-to-wear, Home and a CSR prerogative, The Free Spirit Foundation.

He is married and lives with his wife and two daughters in New Delhi, India.

Photography is one hobby that JJ Valaya pursues with great enthusiasm. He believes that photography lets him freeze time in its essence. Over the years he has shot art and fashion leading to an exquisite collection of his frames.
