Just the sight of Matthew Hayden at the crease is intimidating; standing 6 feet 2 inches tall, strong, well-built, with broad shoulders, Hayden was an integral component of the Australian team that dominated world cricket for the better part of this decade. Words perhaps cannot express how much power he packed into his strokes; in an international career that lasted over 16 years, Hayden hit 182 sixes and 1722 boundaries - incredible numbers those.

As if just his presence itself was not enough to intimidate the bowlers, Hayden would fearlessly walk down the track to the medium-pacers and take them on. Having retired from international cricket early in 2009, Hayden was fresh when he joined the Chennai Super Kings for Season-II of the IPL. And just as he had done many times earlier at the international stage, he sent the opposition bowlers on a leather hunt, in the process amassing 572 runs in 12 matches to end up the leading run-scorer of the tournament.

Though he will be nearing his 39th birthday when he takes part in IPL 2010 Hayden will still be an integral part of Chennai Super Kings' plans and a force to contend with for their opponents.
